Touching Base!

Just stopping in quick, between loads of laundry, getting thing situated for Cody's move this weekend, and unexpected schedule changes.

Cody's adventure to Missouri to the Welding Institute begins on Saturday. Monday the 6th is his first day of class. His Mom will be moving him down this weekend and getting him settled in. He'll be there for 18 weeks, and hopefully for him, the schools job placement picks up right away for him and they can get him a good paying job soon after graduating. Even in this economy...welders are in high demand. Structures, buildings and machines will always need to be repaired if not built!

Friday will mark our 11th Anniversary for Tim and me. Amazing. Doesn't seem like that long ago! I think we will be celebrating pretty low key. Probably dinner out and a movie or maybe a quick trip to the Casino. Wendy did offer to keep Becca for us, so that will be fun for Xavier and Becca also.

Wendy's foster child, had received exciting news for her a couple of weeks ago, that she would finally be moved to a family that could take both her and her sister. She's been wanting to be with her sister from day one. Although its yet another move for Shalaya, more adjusting to be done, we're sure that she and her sister will be happier with each other, rather than apart. God bless the family that has accepted them together, and wants to make them part of their family. There will be some reajusting back to just Wendy and Xavier by themselves in the house again as well. However, we know that Wendy and Xavier were the missing piece that was needed to get this little girl from one situation, to the family that could take both sisters. Wendy has surely made a positive impact, shown God's love, taught God's word and praise, and provided a safe, secure and healthy home for her while it was needed. I still admire my sister for all she has done. This was not how any of us expected things to happen, but it has, and we are all better for it.

Becca is still doing well at Gymnastics. There are days she is all about the bars, and she does a tremendous job. Then there are days she is all about the beams, and doesn't want to do anything but swing like a monkey on the bars. I keep reminding myself that she is only 3. She's not 16 and ready for the olympics just yet. And if she never is, that is fine too! But we love her enthusiasm when she's there. You should see the floor routine she works here at home! hillarious!

Slacker

Wow. I've been a slacker lately. Haven't been keeping up on this blog very well.
The nicer weather has really kept us busy. Wanting to keep the house picked up, playing outside when we have the chance, etc.
This weekend I'm going with my girlfriends to Des Moines. Soo excited to get away for a couple days. Going to hit the specialty stores in Valley Junction and of course Jordan Creek. Who knows, we may go off the beaten path and find something completely off the wall.

Cody's been working his job shoveling sand at the foundry for about 3 weeks now. Seems to be ok with it. We're missing having him around for dinner, because he works 4-9 each night. And by the time he comes home, Tim and I are ready for bed. So we're on opposite schedules it seems. The weekends are better for us to spend more time together, watching movies, or just running errands.

Speaking of Cody, he'll be off to Missouri in another 2 weeks. Still waiting to hear from the school on living arrangements. Last we heard, they said it may be the week prior to the move before they have final arrangements made. Still need to make final plans of our own to get him down there. We had assumed we (tim and I) would take him down, however, Carrie may want to be involved with that move as well, which is fine. I think Cody is bursting at the seems to get down there, and start out on his own. I remember being in that position. Never moved out of town, let alone out of state, and 7 hours away. However, I do remember the need to be an adult, and show everyone what I was made of and that I could do it on my own. Took me some time, and a request to move back home for a while. We know this is possible as well. I think most teenagers find that happens (Tim, I and most of our friends included).

quick post

Sorry for so few posts lately. Now that the birthday party is over, maybe things can get back to normal. But then again, we have some upcoming events that are exciting for everyone also. I've also been active on my newest blog http://missmatchedandmarvelous.blogspot.com come visit me!
Friday, My sister and I are going to the Jeremy Riddle concert in Cedar Falls. So excited for that.
Last week, Jill, Wendy and I spent the day in DesMoines shopping and laughing. It was great. We all needed the get away, and enojoyed ever minute of it.
Next weekend, I'm going to Desmoines again with some friends. I think I already got all my shopping done last week, but looking forward to spending some adult time away.
The following week we will begin to get Cody's things in order for moving weekend. All his laundry done, bits and pieces packed and ready to pack into the car for the trip down the first weekend of April.
